Chengdu City

Chengdu , as a historical and cultural city in China , is designated as the center of science and technology, trade, commerce and finance, as well as the hub of transportation and telecommunication in Southwest China . It covers an area of 12.4 thousand square kilometers and has a population of 10.82 million.

The history of Chengdu can be traced back to very early times, and the city's site has not changed for thousands of years. About 2300 years ago, the king of the ancient Shu Kingdom , Emperor Kaiming, established his capital in this site. The excavation of the Jinsha Relic further pushed the dated history of Chengdu back another 1000 years. Today, Chengdu has grown into a metropolis embodying both ancient and modern civilization.

Thanks to its natural geographic advantages, Chengdu boasts of fertile land and abundant agricultural outputs. Free from bitter cold and scorching heat, its climate is quite mild.
